samer.skaik1Samer Skaik serves as the Director of Construction Management Guide. He has 15 years of extensive experience in dealing with international construction projects, alongside lecturing, advising and writing on construction management and construction law with special expertise in FIDIC and Security of Payment regime.

Skaik is certified by RICS as an accredited Adjudicator under the Security of Payment Legislation in NSW. He also serves as a PhD Researcher and Sessional Lecturer and Tutor teaching Construction Management at Deakin University. Skaik’ PhD examines potential reform of ‘Statutory Adjudication’ with a ‘Scholarship Grant’ from Deakin University in Australia. 


Skaik worked as a Senior Projects Manager and Commercial Manager overseeing major international projects for DAMAC properties between 2010-2014. Before that, he had worked at various technical & managerial positions for leading contractors in the UAE. In 2010, he pursued his academic career lecturing and supervising research at Heriot Watt University (UK) and received excellent students’ feedback on his teaching qualities.

Skaik holds a UK Master Degree (with Distinction) in Construction Management and is currently finalizing his PhD thesis about ‘Statutory Adjudication’ with a ‘Scholarship Grant’ from Deakin. Skaik is certified as a Professional Civil Engineer by Engineer Australia and as a Project Management Professional by PMI in the US. He is also certified an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK.

Skaik has published widely on construction management and law topics. In May 2016, he received a High Commendation in the 2016 Australian Society of Construction Law Brooking Prize for his paper ‘Taking Statutory Adjudication to the Next Level: Legislative Review Mechanisms of Erroneous Determinations’. He also authored the four chapters for the forthcoming book “International Contractual and Statutory Adjudication” by Routledge.

Skaik is usually invited to speak in international conferences and seminars. He was invited by FIDIC to be a “Friendly Reviewer” of the forthcoming FIDIC Yellow Book; and by RICS and AUBEA to be a ‘Peer Reviewer’ of their Academic Conferences.
